IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
This year, we have seen an unprecedented number of financial requests through the Student Development Funding Committee (SDFC). This is an exciting time for our students and organizations as this proves an increased amount of student programs and levels of engagement. Due to this increased activity, the Student Organization Grant (SOG) and Educational Enhancement Grant (EEG) have been nearly fully allocated.
As of Tuesday, January 27, 2009 the online funding proposal system of Student Link was suspended and will not receive any additional proposals. At this point, all proposals that were submitted beginning January 15 and after will not be reviewed. It has not been determined if these proposals can be funded. We will contact those of you who submitted proposals after January 15 about any possible next steps, as soon as we know more information.
Putting forth our best effort to continue to support our student organizations throughout the remainder of the semester, Student Life will do the following and ask you to do the same:
Please see the e-mail below from Assistant Vice Chancellor, Dr. Frank Ross for more details. Also, you can find more information in the upcoming weeks at funding.iupui.edu and life.iupui.edu. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Dr. Ross, Patty Alvarez, Interim Director of Campus and Community Life, Diana Sims-Harris, Coordinator of Student Organizations, or myself.
Thank you for your continued contributions towards building community and increasing student engagement at IUPUI.

Associate Director for Leadership Development
Colleagues,
Signs of increased student engagement and community building are evident at IUPUI!
We have seen a significant increase in the number of student organizations applying for student organization grants (SOG) through the Student Development Funding Committee (SDFC).
This growth has occurred across the entire campus, both in graduate/ professional student organizations and undergraduate organizations applying for funding.
By the end of fall semester, this funding had already supported a record number of student-organized programs.
As a result of this tremendous increase in activity, the amount of student activity dollars available through the SDFC process has been nearly depleted.
This was completely unforeseen and something that could not have been anticipated.
The SDFC resumed their good work in reviewing student organization proposals at the start of the spring semester. By the end of the first week the total number of funded proposals nearly exceeded the funds available.
Additionally, due to record numbers of IUPUI students applying for Educational Enhancement Grants (EEG) to support their academic/career interests, EEG funding for the academic year has also been exhausted.
We are so pleased to see this significant increase in student engagement and community at IUPUI. As you can imagine this poses a challenge as we have a number of student organizations with active funding proposals, and we anticipate more will be submitted for review.
We wanted to provide you this important information as soon as possible. We will ensure to maintain communication as we explore all possible options. During this time, please feel free to forward questions to me directly, and members of the Student Life team will respond given the information we have.
This increase in student engagement and community at IUPUI is positive, with implications that will require us to work together as a campus community.
Thank you for your good work in supporting student organizations at IUPUI.
